Nancy : Oh yea! Usborne! I homeschooled my 3 kids, and we loved many of the Usborne books.

Eula : I'm going to be setting up an affiliate program if anyone is interested
Eula : how old are your kids Nancy?
Ginger Marks : I used a smiliar product for my MIL when she was in her last days.
Ginger Marks : She loved Teletubbies too.
Nancy : That should go over well, especially for homeschooling moms.
Nancy : My kids are now 23, 24 and 28.
Ginger Marks : Any grands?
Nancy : One granddaughter, will be one year old in October, with a second on the way (same Mommy--whew!).

Nancy : They're in Las Vegas, while I'm in Ohio, so I'm excited that they're coming over Labor Day weekend.

Nancy : Thanks. I'm trying to figure out the whole "Network with me" and "Be my friend" thing. When do you do which, should you do both with everybody, are there advantages and disadvantages to either or both?
Ginger Marks : Eula you want to give her the answer to that one?
Ginger Marks : I think all of us could share that answer, right Lisa?
Eula : actually we don't use Network with me. We think that once you make contact with a person you have already begun networking
Ginger Marks : I have used it though and made one or two introductions
Nancy : "Contact" as in signing the guest book?
Eula : If you are going to network with a person you sign their guestbook as well 
LisaG. : I've used it, but very little. 
Ginger Marks : The networking with me feature will introduce you to another person's friends.
Eula : send a PM to introduce yoursel
Eula : I didn't think about that one Ginger
Ginger Marks : Yes, then sign their guestbook (gb) or leave them a PM (private message)
Nancy : Then it's a good thing to sign up as a Friend?
Eula : yes it is
LisaG. : The freiends feautre is good for finding other people thru people you've gotten ro know
Eula : You'll need the persons email address to add them as a friend though and they will have to approve you
Nancy : Is there any downside to signing up with lots of people as friends?
Ginger Marks : However, for your friends, you have to know their email address and they yours. So it is usually safe to accept friends.
Nancy : Does the "network with me" feature also give you contact with that person's networking group or friends?
Ginger Marks : I don't think so, what I find is you have to not accept some of them though.
LisaG. : I like to sign gb. Then if I read something interesting, I will send a short pm about it.
Ginger Marks : Different reasons.
Eula : some people do it just to fill their page with friends...which can be a negative
Ginger Marks : Watch out for blatent spammers
Nancy : I noticed if I click on the "Network with me?" Yes button, nothing seems to change. I can't tell if I'm "into" their network or not.
Ginger Marks : I usually ask for a person's snail mail. If they don't want to share then I know they are not the kind I want to add.
Nancy : So people with lots of "friends" may be just spammers?
Ginger Marks : If you click that it should take you to one of their friend's pages.
Ginger Marks : It is possible. Not always though.
Nancy : Yes, I noticed it took me somewhere after I clicked on it, but I didn't understand why.
Nancy : Am I taken to one of their friend's pages so I can sign up with THAT friend, too?
Ginger Marks : What is your take Lisa?
Ginger Marks : Well, at that point I would introduce myself by signing their gb or sending a pm
LisaG. : I'm not a "gold"memeber and rarely have used it. sounds odd. 
Nancy : On the page where it lists "Who wants to network with you" and "Who you want to network with," I can't tell who I'm already networking with. What am I missing?
Ginger Marks : If you already have them they won't show up there.
Nancy : I clicked on Network with one guy when I first joined, and he's still listed with both "Want to" lists.
Ginger Marks : that's because he has to accept
Nancy : Ahhhhh
Ginger Marks : This is a helpful page for you Nancy
Nancy : So, is it a good thing to ask people to be their Friend, and give them access to your e-mail address by checking that box?
Ginger Marks : It has links to lots of information.
Ginger Marks : Do you have a Big Sister yet?
Nancy : No. Where is that talked about?
Eula : its good if you REALLY do want to network with that person
Eula : like ginger said, you have to be careful of the spammers
LisaG. : It's good if you want ot keep in touch with that person.
Nancy : So you ladies are discriminating about who you hook up with?
Ginger Marks : bookmark this page and then if you want a Big Sister just let us know.
Eula : once they get your info they'll be able to spam your email, but on ryze it is somewhat difficult for people to spam you...although they still do
Ginger Marks : to a point

Eula : you can also remove friends Nancy, so you have that option if you find its necessary
Nancy : That's good to know.
LisaG. : you want to make sure "they are" not some who spams.
Nancy : I guess you wouldn't know that until you got to know that person, through posts?
LisaG. : You want to find others with similar interests, business sharing ideas
Nancy : Makes sense.
Eula : you could always make use of the PMs to introduce yourself and open a dialog with the person before you add them as a friend
LisaG. : you can get to know "them" by reading their posts
Nancy : Good idea. I learn alot from reading posts.
Ginger Marks : a fun thing to do is after you join a network click at the bottom on 'go to a random member page'
LisaG. : And they'll get to know you when you respond to their posts too.
Eula : oh, that is always fun!
Ginger Marks : read their page to see if they have any interests in common.
Ginger Marks : Then introduce yourself or post on the message board what you found
Nancy : What message board is that?
LisaG. : you can join a few network gorups
Ginger Marks : Wherever you were.
Ginger Marks : Like WIN (Women In Networking)
LisaG. : netowrk groups each have a message board
Nancy : I'm in several now. I've noticed the ladies' groups are always much more talkative than the strictly business ones!
