gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:44): Thank you for coming to Networking 101. We are privileged to have as our guest speaker today the husband of one of our members, Sharron Williams.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:44): George is the founder of Rainy Day Financial Services, which counsels clients on matters related to finances. Rainy Day covers the areas of budgeting, money planning, and deveoping strategies for long term financial and personal growth.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:44): George is married and the father of a ten year old autistic son. He has been an entrepreneur for the past 20 years having owned a successful small business serving seniors and special needs clients. After a 10 year period, he entered the sales industry as a health insurance agent and later selling office equipment. Prior to being a business owner and working in sales, George worked as a rehabilitation counselor for 5 years immediately after college.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:45): He attained a BS in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University & his MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:45): Further, his business philosophy is:Accountability and integrity are the cornerstones for success in business, and in life. George strives to live up to the ideals he advocates. Rainy Day Financial is the result of his years of experience as a business owner and working in sales. Over the course of a 20 year professional career, George observed a lack of financial acumen among those he served. Because of a lack of knowledge, many people are suffering in areas where they should be soaring.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:45): Welcome George
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:46): Thank you for having me.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:48): We all desire to live life debt free and control the various factors that lead to success. You might see eliminating debt as a "can do" attainable goal that is well within your reach.
TamaraWilson (2008/03/12 - 12:48): Welcome George thanks for being here to help us with this
(2008/03/12 - 12:50): LisaGuarino joined the room
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:50): Kudos to you for setting your aim high and having the necessary discipline to achieve your goals.
LisaGuarino (2008/03/12 - 12:50): hi
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:51): George, right click in the text box to paste. Ctrl V doesn't seem to work. And hi back Lisa
TamaraWilson (2008/03/12 - 12:52): Hello Lisa
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:52): However, becoming debt free is more of an internal process than simply reaching an external goal. By that I mean controlling debt involves having a desire to really want change in your life.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:53): Discipline and faith are the twin pillars upon which you build a successful life.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:53): AMEN!
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:56): Discipline is necessary to do, or not do, the daily activities that bring about the results we all want. This is true if the goal is going back to school to finish your degree, getting a promotion, or getting out of debt.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 12:56): or even losing weight, as I am learning.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 12:58): Faith, on the other hand, is a little bit tricky. We need faith to believe in some higher good- something bigger than ourselves. But you must also believe in yourself!
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:01): You must also believe that you deserve to live without being burdened with debt, worry, and fear. The first step to getting out of debt is making a decision that you will no longer accept it as a part of your life.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:02): Once that decision is made, make a committment to yourself and to those you love, to take the needed steps to begin the process of change.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:04): Faith is needed to reassure yourself that you are not only deserving of a better life, but that you also are capable of creating that life for yourself.
TamaraWilson (2008/03/12 - 13:05): I totally agree :) it helps when you have faith that you Will get to where you want to be
KatherineReschke (2008/03/12 - 13:06): I have to run - is the text available afterwards so I can catch up with what I miss?
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:06): It is always good to reflect back on a triumph in your life. Perhaps it was a family challenge or health issue, but you survived and grew stronger as a result.
(2008/03/12 - 13:07): KatherineReschke left the room
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 13:07): Yes, Katherine.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:09): Overcoming debt is no different. It is a process -rather than a single act. Choosing a small attainable goal is always good and once that is accomplished, it leads to greater success.
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:11): Over time, a pattern develops which ultimately leads to changes in other areas of life as well. Keep in mind, however, the change started when you changed you thinking about the matter.
LisaGuarino (2008/03/12 - 13:12): step at a time
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:14): Paying off your debt and living debt free is an worthy goal and is not dependent on income level. It is a matter of practicing the little things each day (daily disciplines) that bring major results.
(2008/03/12 - 13:16): TamaraWilson left the room
Shabby (2008/03/12 - 13:17): I'll close with one of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn. "I used to say - I sure hope things will change. Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I change."
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 13:18): Thank you George.
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 13:18): Does anyone have any questions for George?
gmarks (2008/03/12 - 13:20): George, would you share your URL in case those that read this later want or need to get in touch with you?
