[TammyMunson] 12:38 pm: We all know that by participating in local organizations and being active in our communities (online and offline) we are often greeted with the perk of new business opportunities. As you may well now online networks allow you to locate business opportunities as well as find companies that may be able to serve your business-to-business needs.

[TammyMunson] 12:38 pm: The key is how to use networking to your benefit, marketing you and your company???
[TammyMunson] 12:39 pm: Here are some of the ways that you can use social networks(Ryze, Linked In, MySpace,etc) to market your company and you! (because you are an extension of your company)
[TammyMunson] 12:39 pm: but don't just be one big walking ad
[TammyMunson] 12:39 pm: networking is all about relationships
[TammyMunson] 12:40 pm: and developing those relationships
[TammyMunson] 12:40 pm: First is research your market
[TammyMunson] 12:40 pm: You have two ears and one mouth; listen more than you talk. Through participation in these communities, companies can learn about consumer interests and reactions with a candor rarely found in focus groups, message boards and surveys.

[TammyMunson] 12:41 pm: If becoming an expert in your field is part of your marketing strategy, social networks give you a much more accessible outlet than the media. You can speak up in a mailing list, discussion forum, or blog, and reach hundreds or thousands of people. Say something useful, original, and profound, and you will get quoted and linked to, reaching even more people.

[TammyMunson] 12:59 pm: A common mistake many marketers make when dealing with online communication is in thinking that it can be turned on and off like an advertising campaign. Online networks are generally not very receptive to marketing messages from brand new members. You must earn the right to talk about your product through participation in and contribution to the community. Similarly, you cannot simply leave when the campaign is over, or you will be seen as shallow and a “user.” People do not want to be used; please do not use people.

[Eula] 1:02 pm: networking is slow, but the results are huge and amazing
[Alyssa] 1:02 pm: to me they are uselss I know that i n the groups I am in I don't generally read the ads
[Lita Meadows] 1:02 pm: I would not be where I am even starting out if it wasn't for networking and meeting all you wonderful ladies
[TammyMunson] 1:02 pm: Try this with your friend groups.... Your participation, your signatures, and your profiles will create awareness. Those who are interested will be attracted to you and will come to you for information and assistance.

[TammyMunson] 1:04 pm: For example, I was asked to be interviewed by Fox News for an army wife thing. I got asked that because of a networking relationship that I have had for over 2 years now.
